Question 222428: A rectangular swimming pool is three times as long as it is wide. if the perimeter of the pool is 320 feet, what are the pool's dimensions?

3x= length
2W+2L = P
2(x) + 2(3x)=320
2x+6x= 320
8x = 320
x=320/8= 40 Width
3x= 3*40= 120 Length
Check:
2*40+2*120
80+240
320 It checks!
