you take [x-2]+10=12 you turn it into
10[x-2]=12 so you can distribute what's in your parentasis(excuse my spelling).
so that would give you
10x -20=12 then you would add 20, because you carry it to the otherside of the equation which leaves you with
10x=12 +20 which would give you 32 so
10x=32 you divide by 10 because you want x by itself
so you end up with
x=3.2


this is what it will look like when you put it on your paper
[x-2]+10=12
10[x-2]=12
10x-20=12
10x=12+20
10x=32
x=3.2
