Question 22188: How do I do this?
(10-5t over 3)multiplied by (12t over t-2) Found 2 solutions by eclecticist, rapaljer:Answer by eclecticist(12) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First of all, when multiplying fractions, always look to simplify them first. Simplification always takes place between terms in the numerator and terms in the denominator, as a fraction is essentially signifying division. Note that there is a 3 in the denominator of the first fraction, and 12t in the numerator of the second fraction. You can tell that 3 and 12t have a GCF of 3, leaving you with
Next, we can arrange 10 - 5t to -5t + 10. We can factor out -5 to be left with -5(t-2). However, since there is another term t-2 in the denominator of the second fraction, we cancel these two terms out to be left with
The only thing that is left now is multiplication between -5 and 12t, which is -60t
