You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A pole that is 6 feet tall casts a shadow that is 4 feet long. At the same time a tree casts a shadow that is 24 feet long. How tall is the tree?

Step 1. Assuming the pole and tree are located in the same area, then let x be the height of the tree. Using the concept of proportionality yields

4%2F6=x%2F24

Step 2. Multiply by 24 to both sides to get rid of the denominator.

24%2A4%2F6=24%2Ax%2F24

16=x

Step 3. SOLUTION: The tree is 16 feet tall.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
