I recommend that you begin by subtracting 5 from each side:

-3/4x +5-5 = 2-5
-3/4x = -3

Next, let's get rid of the fraction by multiplying both sides by 4:

4%2A%28-3%2F4%29x=4%2A-3
-3x+=-12

Finally, divide by -3:
x=4
