The equations relating polar to rectangular coordinates are (using "t" instead of theta because Algebra.com's formula software doesn't draw theta):
t+=+arctan%28y%2Fx%29 or tan%28t%29+=+y%2Fx and r+=+sqrt%28x%5E2+%2B+y%5E2%29
(Since your polar equation has no "r" we will not need the last equation.)

Since theta is 45 in your problem:
tan%2845%29+=+y%2Fx
Since tan%2845%29+=+1 we get:
1+=+y%2Fx
Multiplying both sides by x we get:
x+=+y
which is the answer.
