Find graph intercepts from general form of linear equation.
What are the x and y intercepts of the graph of 3x+y=6? Write each intercept as an ordered pair.

3x+y=6...intercepts mean the distance of the points from the origin, where the line meets the x axis and y axis
where it meets the x axis its y coordinate will be zero since that point is on the x axis
where it meets the y axis its x coordinate will be zero since that point is on the y axis
we use the above properties to find the intercept
first put y=0 in 3x+y=6....we get 3x=6 or x=6/3=2..so x intercept is 2 or the line cuts the x axis at 2 units from origin along x axis....the point as ordered pair is (2,0)
next put x=0 in 3x+y=6.....we get y=6...so y intercept is 6 units or the line cuts the y axis at 6 units from origin along y axis...the point as ordered pair is (0,6)
