Question 218719: A store is offering a 15% discount on all items. Write a linear equation giving the sale price "S" for an item with a list price "L"
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Sale price = List price minus discount, where the discount is 15% of the list price. That is, discount=.15L.
S=L-.15L
S=.85L
Note: If you think about it, if the sale price is 15% OFF, this automatically means that the sale price is actually 85% ON. That is, .85L
