You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the equation x3 + 2x2 + x + 2 = 0 if -2 is a root?

Step 1. If -2 is a root we can factor it out (x+2) as

%28x%2B2%29%28x%5E2%2B1%29=x%5E3%2B2x%5E2%2Bx%2B2=0

Step 2. Then x%5E2%2B1=0 which is x=i or x=-i where
i=sqrt%28-1%29

Step 3. ANSWER: The roots are -2, i, and -i.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
