You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let number of nickels be "x"
Then number of dimes is "x+3"
And number of quarters is "x-2"
Value of nickels is 5x cents
Value of dimes is 10(x+3)= 10x+30 cents
Value of quarters is 25(x-2)=25x-50 cents
EQUATION:
Value of nickels + Value of dimes + Value of quarters is 540 cents
5x +10x+30 +25x-50 = 540
40x = 560
x = 14 (number of nickels)
x+3 = 17 (number of dimes)
x-2 = 12 (number of quarters)
