Question 217965: Please help me, I do not understand this question:
In a motorcycle race, one lap is 650m. Genna starts off 4s after Tom does, but drives 5m/s faster and finishes 2.5s sooner than he does.
a) Find the speed of each driver
b) Find the time taken by each of them to cover the distance
Ans: Tom: 20.0m/s, 32.5s Genna: 25.0m/s, 26s
I read somewhere that Genna's time is t-6.5s. Why is that? She finished 2.5s sooner, not 4 + 2.5
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
yes, but she started 4 seconds later

so the time difference is the combination of the later start and the earlier finish
