Question 217354: the base of an isosceles triangle is 3 cm less than the length of the equal sides. if the perimeter of the triangle is 36cm, what is the length of each of the sides? Answer by elima4(15) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Isosceles triangles have 2 equal sides, so we will make the equal sides be x
the base = x - 3
perimeter is all sides added together;
x + x + x-3 = 36
3x - 3 = 36
3x = 39
x = 13
So the two equal side = 13
base;
x-3
13-3=10
so the sides will be;
13, 13, 10
