You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the measure of an angle if its measure is 18 degrees more than 3 times its supplement.

Step 1. Let x be the angle.

Step 2. Let 180-x be the supplement.

Step 3. Let 3(180-x) be 3 times its supplement.

Step 4. x=3(180-x)+18 since the measure of an angle if its measure is 18 degrees more than 3 times its supplement

Step 5. Solving yields

x=3%28180-x%29%2B18

x=540-3x%2B18

x=558-3x

Add 3x to both sides of the equation.

x%2B3x=558

4x=558

Divide by 4 to both sides of the equation.

4x%2F4=522%2F4

x=139.5

180-x=40.5

Check...139.5=3*40.5+18=121.5+18=139.5...which is a true statement.

Step 6. ANSWER: The angle is 139.5 degrees

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
