Step 1. Use the Pythagorean Theorem: The sum of the square of the legs (7 and 5) is equal to the sum of the square of the hypotenuse d(or diagonal in this case).

Step 2. Then, 5%5E2%2B7%5E2=c%5E2 or 25%2B49=74=c%5E2

Step 3. Taking the square root to both sides of the equation yields c=sqrt%2874%29=8.60

Step 4. Each diagonal has a length of c=sqrt%2874%29=8.60 units.
