You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The question I need help on is: If the supplement of an angle is twenty more than twice its complement, find the original angle, it complement and its supplement

Step 1. Supplementary angles is when two angles add up to 180 degrees.

Step 2. Complementary angles is when two angles add up to 90 degrees.

Step 3. Let x be the angle, let 180-x be its supplement, and let 90-x be its complement.

Step 4. Let 2*(90-x) be twice the complement.

Step 5. Then, 180-x=2(90-x)+20 since supplement of an angle is twenty more than twice its complement.

Step 6. Solving yields the following steps.

180-x=2%2890-x%29%2B20

180-x=180-2x%2B20

Add 2x-180 to both sides of the equation

180-x%2B2x-180=180-2x%2B20%2B2x-180

x=20 Then 180-x=160 and 90-x=70

Check 160=2*70+20...which is a true statement.

Step 7. ANSWER: The angle is 20 degrees, its supplement is 160 degrees and its complement is 70 degrees.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
