: Dear Tutor, please help me with this math question as best as you can. I do not understand it that well....
The measure of the supplement of an angle exceeds 3 times the measure of the complement of the angle by 10. Find the measure of the complement.
I tired lots of different equations, like 3x+10=90 and 6x+20=180 but I have no idea how to do it.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The measure of the supplement of an angle exceeds 3 times the measure of the complement of the angle by 10. Find the measure of the complement.
Let x be the angle. Then 90-x is the complement and 180-x is the supplement.
You are told %28180-x%29+=+3%2A%2890-x%29+%2B+10
180+-x+=+270+-+3x+%2B+10
2x+=+90%2B10
2x+=+100
x+=+50
So the complement is 90-50 = 40
Check your answer, the supplement would be 180-50 = 130
Is 130 = 3*40 + 10???
