You can put this solution on YOUR website!
At $41,000 for 3 5/12 acres, find the cost per acre:
Change the mixed number to an improper fraction: 3 5/12 = 41%2F12
%2841000%29%2F%2841%2F12%29+=+41000%2A%2812%2F41%29=1000%2A12+=+12000
Cost per acre is $12,000

A piece of land costs $41, 000 for 3 5/12 acres. What is the cost per acre?

The little word "per" always means "divided by", so

the words "cost per acre" means "cost divided by acres", so

41000%22%F7%223%265%2F12

We change the mixed fraction to an improper fraction,
and write the 41000 as the improper fraction 41000%2F1

41000%2F1%22%F7%2241%2F12

We change the problem to a multiplication problem by
inverting the second fraction and changing the division
symbol to a multiplication symbol:

41000%2F1%22x%2212%2F41

Then we cancel the 41 into the 41000 and get 1000,
then we multiply tops and bottoms and get:

1000
cross%2841000%29%2F1%22x%2212%2F%28cross%2841%29%29%5B1%5D=12000%2F1=12000

or $12,000 per acre.
