Depends. How many total coins are there? You did not share the entire problem.

If there were 100 coins, you would have 40 dimes for $4.00, 50 pennies for $0.50, and 10 nickels for $0.50 making a total of $5.00, but if you only had 50 coins you would have 20 dimes for $2.00, 25 pennies for $0.25, and 5 nickels for $0.25 making a total of $2.50.

That's only two examples out of an infinite number of possibilities.
