: Melena Fenn found some coins while looking under her sofa pillows. There were equal numbers of nickels and quarters and twice as many half-dollars as quarters. If she found $2.60 in all, how many of each denomination of coin did she find?
I know she has 4 half-dollars, 2 quarters and, 2 nickels. I cannot get the equation right to show my work. If I don't show my equation, I won't get the points for it. I just need to know how to set it up and I can solve it. My instructor however is not one to explain anything and ignores my emails. I really appreciate any help! Thanks a lot.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There were equal numbers of nickels and quarters
n = q
----------------
and twice as many half-dollars as quarters.
h = 2q
----------------
If she found $2.60 in all, how many of each denomination of coin did she find?
Value equation: 5n + 10d +25q + 50h = 260 cents
-----
Replace n by q
Replace h by 2q
-----
Solve
