I believe 1 gradian is smaller than 1 degree because we're comparing 100 (gradian) to 90 (degrees in right angle). It seems too simple so I'm asking for confirmation or correction.

A gradian is 1/100 of a right angle.
A degree is 1/90 of a right angle.
