You can put this solution on YOUR website!
On his trip to work each day, Brady pays the same toll, using either all quarters or all dimes. If the number of dimes needed for the toll is 3 more than the number of quarters, what is the toll?
----------------------------------------
Equations:
Value Equation: 25q-10d = 0
Quantity Equation: d = q + 3
----------------------------------
Substitute for "d" to solve for "q":
25q - 10(q+3) = 0
25q -10q = 30
15q = 30
q = 2 (# of quarters)
---
d = q+3 = 2+3 = 5 (# of dimes)
