: Find three consecutive even integers such that four times the sume of the first and third integers is twenty less than six times the middle integer.
Can you please write this in equation format with variables? I think I'm getting the wrong answer. Can you help me? Thanks! This question is from textbook intermediate algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x, x+2 & x+4 be the three consecutive even integers.
4(x+x+4)=6(x+2)-20
4(2x+4)=6x+12-20
8x+16-6x=-8
2x=-8-16
2x=-24
x=-24/2
x=-12 ans.
-12+2=-10
-12+4=-8
Proof:
4(-12-8)=6*-10-20
4*-20=-60-20
-80=-80
