Question 212178: If two planes leave the same airport at 1:00pm, how many miles apart will they be at 3:00pm if one travels directly north at 150 mph and the other travels directly west at 200 mph?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Airplane A is traveling 150mph, the travel time is 2 hours, so airplane A is 300 miles from the airport because 150+150=300.
Airplane B is traveling 200mph, the travel time again is 2 hours, sp airplane B is 400 miles from the airpot because 200+200=400.
Then you add the two distances together 400+300=700
So therefore the airplanes are 700 miles apart.
