x and -x are opposites

Equation:
x = -x + 96
2x = 96
x = 48
---
48 is 96 more than -48

2. Find a number whose product with 9 is the same as its sum with 56.
Let the number be "x".
Equation:
8x = x+56
7x = 56
x = 8

Then -x=its opposite
Eqn: x=96+(-x)
2x=96
x=48
48 is 96 more than -48
2.Let x=the number
Then 9x=x+56
8x=56
x=7
