Let x = measure of angle 2
then
4x-5 = measure of angle 1
.
If the angles are linear, this means the sum of the two angles is 180 degs:
x + (4x-5) = 180
5x-5 = 180
5x = 185
x = 37 degrees (angle 2)

angle 1:
4x-5 = 4(37)-5 = 148-5 = 143 degrees (angle 1)
