Solve: 5/8x + 1/16x = 5/16 + x
I think by 5/8x you mean (5/8)x, or 5x/8, not 5/(8x).
Multiply thru by 16
10x + x = 5 + 16x
11x = 5 + 16x
0 = 5 + 5x
5x = -5
x = -1
