The trick to this problem is to not worry about the exponent. Just concentrate on simplifying the expression %28%28x%2B1%29%2F%28x-1%29%2B1%29%2F%28%28x%2B1%29%2F%28x-1%29-1%29. You'll find that the expression simplifies to something that can be expanded or FOILed (I'm not giving away the answer). So try to simplify the inner expression.
