Question 207406: I need some help with these two questions please?
1. Solve by factoring and using the principle of zero products.
2x2 = 3x
2. The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 8 feet less than three times the shorter leg and the longer leg is 8 feet more than twice the shorter leg. Find the lengths of the three sides of the triangle.

I'll do the first one to get you started.

# 1

2x%5E2=3x Start with the given equation.

2x%5E2-3x=0 Subtract 3x from both sides.

x%282x-3%29=0 Factor out the GCF 'x'

x=0 or 2x-3=0 Set each factor equal to 0 (using the zero product property)

x=0 or 2x=3 For the second equation, add 3 to both sides.

x=0 or x=3%2F2 For the second equation, divide both sides by 2 to isolate 'x'.

So the solutions are x=0 or x=3%2F2 (note: 1.5 the decimal form of 3%2F2)
