We can't answer these questions as we don't know what the squares stand for. I'm assuming that the paste didn't transfer the real symbols. Maybe you can describe what the symbols look like?

This looks like the "Transitive Property of equality" and the "Transitive Property
of inequality.
The squares are just a typographic error.
The squares should have been equal sign (=) or inequality signs "<" or ">" .
Look up the "Transitive Property of Equality" and "Transitive Property of Inequality" on "Google"
