No they are not. Linear equations are simply equations that can be placed in the form Ax%2BBy=C while linear functions are equations that fit the form y=mx%2Bb or f%28x%29=mx%2Bb. Both have a linear form, but a function is specific in that it must pass the vertical line test.


Example: x=2 is a linear equation but it is NOT a function (it fails the vertical line test)
