let x = Kit's age in 3 years
3x = Alex's age in 3 years

3x-4 = 7(x-4)
Solve for x.
3x-4=7%28x-4%29
3x-4=7x-28
24=4x
x=6
So x-3 = 3 is Kit's age now, and 3x-3=15 is Alex's age now
