Question 205590: The question is: Classify the following polynomial by its degree and terms. x^2-5x+2. This is a multiple choice question. The choices are: quadratic binomial, cubic trinomial, quadratic trinomial, and linear binomial. So far what I have done is cancel out quadratic binomial and linear binomial because the equation has 3 terms(trinomial) and binomial stands for 2 terms. I don't know which one it is now , quadratic trinomial or cubic trinomial.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Classify the following polynomial by its degree and terms. x^2-5x+2.
It's a quadratic trinomial.
------------------
As you said, it has 3 terms.
It's quadratic, which is 2nd order. The highest exponent is 2.
Quadratic sounds like 4th power, but it's 2 as it means things that are square, such as quadrangles.
------------
2nd power is quadratic.
3rd power is cubic.
4th power is quartic.
