let the angle = x
supplement of the angle = 180 - x
complement of the angle = 90 - x

180 - x = 2*(180 - (90 - x)) - 36
180 - x = 2*(180 - 90 + x) - 36
180 - x = 2*(90 + x) - 36
180 - x = 180 + 2x - 36
180 - 180 + 36 = 2x + x
36 = 3x
x = 36/3 = 12

supplement of x = 180 - 12 = 168 degrees
