Cancel 5
x%2F3+%2B+5 = x - 20
Multiply by 3 to get rid of the denominator
x + 3(5) = 3(x - 20)
:
x + 15 = 3x - 60
:
15 + 60 = 3x - x
:
75 = 2x
:
x = 75%2F2
x = 37.5
