SOLUTION: Can anyone help with this problem?
3^(2x+5) = 4
I start with:
log3^(2x+5) = log 4
(2x+5) log3 = log 4
then I get stuck
the answer is -1.87
Thanks,
Sandy

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3^(2x+5) = 4
I start with:
log3^(2x+5) = log 4
(2x+5) log3 = log 4
then I get stuck
the answer is -1.87
SAME COMMENTS AS GIVEN BELOW APPLY ..EITHER YOU HAVE TO USE TABLES/CALCULATOR OR
LEAVE IT WITH TRANSFORMATION
2X+5=LOG4/LOG3
2X=(LOG4/LOG3)-5
X={(LOG4/LOG3)-5}/2
IF YOU SUBSTITUTE THE VALUES FOR LOG4 AND LOG3 AND SIMPLIFY YOU WILL GET THE ANSWER...LOG4=0.6021......LOG3=0.4771...AND X=-1.87 AS YOU HAVE MENTIONED
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
6^(1-x) = e....OK
I start with:
in6^(1-x) = in e......GOOD..YOU ARE USING IN FOR LOG TO BASE e...THE MORE APPROPRIATE SYMBOL IS ln IMPLYING NATUAL LOGARITHMS THAT IS TO BASE e.
(1-x) in6 = 1.....VERY GOOD
in6 - xin6 = 1.....YOU ARE AT THE END AND SAY YOU ARE LOST NOW????
IF YOU ARE GIVEN A CALCULATOR OR LOG TABLES USE THEM TO FIND THE ANSWER AS GIVEN BELOW OR LEAVE IT WITH TRANSFORMATION AS FOLLOWS
X*LN6=LN6-1
X=(LN6-1)/(LN6)=1-1/LN6
and now I'm totally lost. The answer is.44
LN6 FROM TABLES IS =1.7918
AND WE GET X=0.44
