ok, logs to the base 2.... log 8 means what is the power of 2 needed to get 8? Answer is 3...2^3 is 2x2x2 which is 8.

Similarly, what is the power of 2 needed to get 32? Answer is 5 --> 2x2x2x2x2 which is 32.

so log8 + log32 becomes 3 + 5 which is 8. That is the answer.
