Try this, find the daily rate of each of the individuals!
If Sam can complete the job in 4 days, then he can do 1/4 of the job in 1 day.
If Susan can complete the job in 6 days, then she can do 1/6 of the job in 1 day.
If Tom can complete the job in 2 days, then he can do 1/2 the job in 1 day.
Working together, the three of them can do (1/4+1/6+1/2 = 11/12) of the job in 1 day.
This means that it will take them 12/11 days to complete the job working together.
12%2F11+=+1.0909 or 1.09 days.
