f(x) =y=-3(x+12)^2 -14
.
(y +14) = -3 (x+12)^2
.
standard form is,,,,,,(y-k) = A (x-h)^2, with (h,k) as vertex
.
from above h= -12,,,and k = -14,,,
.
therefore, vertex is ( -12,-14)
.
to check,,,A= (-3) which means it is pointed down
.
check on either side of vertex for confirmation
.
@ x= -13, y= -3(-13+12)^2 -14,,y= -17,,,which is lower than -14
.
@ x=-11, y= -3(-11+12)^2 -14,,,y = -17,,,which again is lower than -14.
