Question 201882: Take any irrational number and turn it into a rational number by using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or exponentiation. Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! couple of ways I think I can do this.
first way has been proven to be true.
square root of 2 is an irrational number and when you square it you get 2 which is a rational number so that should satisfy the requirement. you can do this with any irrational number that is the square root of a rational number.
another way is to take the number and add any other rational number minus the irrational number) to it. you will always wind up with the other number which is a rational number because you selected it that way (the irrational number cancels out).
another way is to divide the number by itself. you will always get 1 which is a rational number.
another way is to multiply the number by any rational number and then divide it by itself. you will always get the rational number you multiplied it by (the irrational number cancels out again).
