You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Joseph mixes a certain amount of 10% isopropyl misture with 60 gallons of a 20% isopropyl solution, and the resulting mistiure is 16% isoprppyl. how much of the 10% isoproply did he add? To earn credit, you MUST construct an algebraic equation with a variable and solve using algebra steps
-----------------------------------------
Equation:
isopropyl + isopropyl = isopropyl
0.10x + 0.20*60 = 0.16(x+60)
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
10x + 20*60 = 16(x+60)
10x + 20*60 = 16x + 16*60
6x = 4*60
x = (2/3)*60
x = 40 gallons (amount of 10% mixture)
60-x = 20 gallons (amount of 20^ mixture)
