Question 201733: Each day a snail crawls up a wall 10 inches. Each night the snail slides down 3 inches. On which day will the snail reach the top of the wall if the wall is 12 feet 6 inches? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
12 feet 6 inches is 150 inches. Each day the snail manages a net 7 inches. 150 divided by 7 = 21 remainder 3. The morning of the 20th day, the snail will be at 19 times 7 = 133 inches. That day he will reach 143 inches and go back to 140 that night, so the morning of the 21st day it will be at 140. That day he will reach 150 and be out so he won't slip back again. 21 days.
