If the pages are two facing pages, presuming that no one ripped a page out of the book, the numbers must be consecutive, that is to say the larger one is one larger than the smaller. So, let represent the left-hand page, then must be the right hand page.

Further, we are given that the product of the two page numbers is 1482, so:





Just solve the quadratic and exclude the negative root. Hint: It factors. Since the factors of 1482 must differ by only 1, I would start looking for factors in the neighborhood of the integer part of the square root of 1482.
