The total length of 3 pieces, each 3 yards long is
3%2A3+=+9 yds
The total length of 5 pieces, each 2 yards long is
5%2A2+=+10 yds
The sum of the pieces removed is
9+%2B+10+=+19 yds
The amount of cloth remaining is
24+-+19+=+5 yds answer
I'm confused, too. Maybe there was
a misscopying along the way.
