Question 200959: Hello! I need a help with these quotations!
Find an equation of the line havimng the given slope and containing the given point.
M=6/7, (4,-8)
The equation of the line is y=?
Find the intercepts and then use them to graph the equation
1.2x-1.7y=4.08
Thank you very much!!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find an equation of the line havimng the given slope and containing the given point.
M=6/7, (4,-8)
y-y1 = m*(x-x1)
y+8 = (6/7)*(x-4
y+8 = (6/7)x - 24/7
y = (6/7)x - 192/7
------------------
Find the intercepts and then use them to graph the equation
1.2x-1.7y=4.08
Set x = 0 to find the y-intercept
-1.7y = 4.08
y = - 2.4 --> (0,-2.4)
----------------
Set y = 0 to find the x-intercept
1.2x = 4.08
x = 3.4 --> (3.4,0)
Plot them and draw a straight line thru them.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find an equation of the line having the given slope and containing the given point.
M=6/7, (4,-8)
---
Form of the equation : y = mx + b
You are told m = 6/7 and that y = -8 when x = 4;
solve for "b":
-8 = (6/7)4 + b
b = -8 - (24/7)
b = -80/7
-------------
The equation of the line is y = (6/7)x -(80/7)
--------------------------------------
Find the intercepts and then use them to graph the equation
1.2x-1.7y=4.08
---
x-intercept:
Let y = 0 then x = 4.08/1.2 = 3.4
=================================
y-intercept:
Let x = 0 then y = 4.08/-1.7 = -2.4

Graph:
