Four men can dig a 40 foot well in 4 days. How long would it take for 8 men to dig a 60 foot well?
----------------
A 60 ft well would take the original 4 men 1.5 times as long, or 6 days.
Having 2x as many men cuts that in 1/2, so it's:
3 days.
----------
(4 days * 1.5)/2 = 3 days
--------------
This all assumes that there is room for 8 men to work at the bottom of the hole without getting in each other's way, which is not likely.
