The first number in an ordered pair is the -coordinate. Start at the origin and move that many units. Go to the right if the number is positive, or go left if the number is negative.

The second number in an ordered pair is the -coordinate. Start at wherever you landed in the first step and then move the number of -coordinate units specified. Go up if the number is positive, go down if the number is negative.
