Question 198581: im not understanding the differents between :
writing each polynomial in standard form then name each expression based on its
degree and number of terms
1.) 2x^3-x^2+4x
2.) (x^2-3x+5)+(x^2+2x-3)
3.) 12x^3+6x+3x
all this confuses me !
i dont know where to start or beginning and i have a test tomorrow and
finals on thursday!
simplify each expression
2x(7x-3)-4

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Don't freak out. I got you.
d-degrees t-terms
Explanation at bottom.
Note: after simplifying.
1.) 2x^3-x^2+4x d-3 t-3
2.) (x^2-3x+5)+(x^2+2x-3) d-2 t-3
3.) 12x^3+6x+3x d-3 t-2
simplify each expression
2x(7x-3)-4

Distribute the 2x

Done
d-2 t-3
Degree-The polynomial 7x2y3 + 4x − 9 has three terms. (Notice, this polynomial can also be expressed as 7x2y3 + 4x1y0 − 9x0y0.) The first term has a degree of 5 (the sum of 2 and 3), the second term has a degree of 1, and the last term has a degree of 0. Therefore, the polynomial has a degree of 5 which is the highest degree of any term.
To determine the degree of a polynomial that is not in standard form, for example (y − 3)(2y + 6)( − 4y − 21), first express the polynomial as a sum or difference of terms by multiplying each of its factors, combine any like terms, then determine its degree. Since, (y − 3)(2y + 6)( − 4y − 21) = − 8y3 − 42y2 + 72y + 378, the degree of the polynomial is 3.
Term-In elementary mathematics, a term is either a single number or variable, or the product of several numbers and/or variables separated from another term by a + or - sign in an overall expression. For example, in 3 + 4x + 5yzw 3, 4x, and 5yzw are all terms.
