Estimate the instantaneous rate of change for the function y = x2 at the following x values:
i.x = 1
ii.x = 2
iii.x = 3

y' = 2x
m at x=1: 2
m at x=2: 4
m at x=3: 6
m is the slope, which is the rate of change.
The values are exact. I don't know of a way to estimate them.
