: Hi! Can you help me please? The problem is use the coordinate plane to estimate the distance between the two points which is (2,3) and ( -3,-3). The answer in the book is 8 but I do not know how that answer came about. The next question is find the distance between the points by using the distance formula which I was able to get and the answer is 7.81.thank you very much. This question is from textbook algebra 1 concepts and skills resource book
Use a ruler to measure the distance between the two points, then measure that same distance starting from the origin on one of the axes. The distance formula says the distance is approximately 7.81, so 8 is a pretty good guess eyeballing it with a ruler.
