If Ben invests $3000 at 4% interest per year, how much additional money must he invest at 5 1/2% annual interest to ensure that the interest he receives each year is 4 1/2% of the total amount invested?

Then
3000%2A0.04+%2B+X+%2A+0.055+=+%283000%2Bx%29+%2A+0.045
120+%2B+0.055X+=+135+%2B+0.045X now collect terms and solve for X
